Job Title: Principle Quality Engineer
Reporting to: Quality and HSE Manager
Positions responsible for: None
1. Purpose of the role
The role will provide technical and functional quality excellence within AMC/manufacturing program teams, to ensure all existing and new product and process introductions are delivered on time and which meet pre-defined quality and budgetary performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities Guidelines:
Attends program team meetings as allocated by Senior Engineer
Provides the Voice of the customer on program teams , internal and external customers
Ensures all quality elements within the process are completed in a timely manner, in line with the program requirements
Provides quality input and technical understanding to the process to ensure products and processes are realised to manufacture right first time
Provides technical quality engineering support to the program teams ensuring appropriate control mechanisms are implemented and suitable risk analysis is performed to validate the effectiveness of controls, ensuring the use of appropriate tools to include but not limited to :
* Process Flows
* Control Planning
* Initial process studies
Ensures that customer needs and wants are thoroughly understood and delivered by program teams
Delivers customer Project Dossier requirements and ultimately submits documents to customer quality representatives
Reviews all quality requirements with customer contacts ensure continued performance excellence
Work with inspection department to develop best practices for measurement & calibration techniques , to confirm the confidence in reported values and verify the throughput of calibration work
Where required participate in cross functional discussions over possible measurement issues and solutions
Experience of leading and managing a mixed team of skilled/semi-skilled engineers
Able to effectively manage all quality requirements of the manufacturing projects, ensuring relevant elements and project milestones are delivered on time and within budgetary requirements.
Ability to be decisive and make data based decisions on behalf of the company, with consideration to customer requirements.
Work to Company, Industry and Regulatory Standards
Observe safety standards on methods, equipment, machinery & chemicals, both at TPGE, Customer and Supplier sites.
Follow company / corporate systems of work , processes and supporting documentation, i.e. procedures and work instructions
Follow guidance from Senior Management team
Must be able to utilise quality improvement and problem solving tools (e.g. Six Sigma).
3. General activities
Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.
Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence.
Follow company procedures, standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.
Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Knowledge and experience within Nuclear, Defence or Oil and Gas industry an advantage
New product and process introductions
Knowledge of MoD DefStans and DefCons
SQEP to meet customer requirements
Competent understanding of quality tools process flows, FMEA, Control Planning, etc…
Experience of Quality control techniques
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process application
Knowledge of programming techniques and process application
Active participant within new product introduction programmes
Experienced in leading and managing teams in quality improvement
Essential - Must have a minimum of 5 years engineering experience with 3 years in a quality environment.
Desirable - Degree qualified in a related discipline (or suitable engineering experience).
