Principal Engineer Power Electronics Design
Our ambitious plans mean we are constantly looking for new talent to join our business. You will become part of a dynamic team working on state of the art electrical machine design, drive electronics and control primarily for automotive EV applications. This position has arisen directly in line with the company expansion in this fast growing area, and is therefore offering you an excellent opportunity to take a central role in this expansion and become an expert in this unique field.
We are looking for engineers with significant experience of leading automotive power electronics design projects and/or motor control. You are highly motivated to be trained and learn new skills, allowing you to work closely with electrical machine, mechanical and control engineers in a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team. You will be working on a range of challenging projects and you are required to lead and deliver projects independently.
Typical work scope will include
Technical lead on commercial design projects, responsible for project delivery
Technical lead on commercial proposals
Design and sizing of power electronic drive systems, primarily for automotive applications
Design and implementation of motor control and I/O to vehicle control system
Electrical system integration of power electronics and control, supplier liaison
Component assembly and electronic prototyping to automotive standards
HIL testing of power electronics and motor including motor control
Fault finding and diagnostics

We are looking for a new team member to be based in the UK with occasional international travel who has experience in the following areas:
You will ideally have the following experience:
MSc or PhD degree in electrical engineering
5+ years experience of working in electrical engineering in automotive industry
Leading delivery of commercial power electronics drive design projects, preferably in automotive industry
Design, prototype and testing of bespoke and semi-off the shelf drive systems
Design and implementation of motor control and HIL testing
Electrical system integration of power electronics and control
Supplier management and design for manufacture for automotive industry
Use of software tools such as Matlab/Simulink and/or embedded controller software
