The Role

This is an excellent opportunity to help shape the direction and development of their Irish Business as the second in command to the Country Manager. The company is now out performing its annual budget 6 month ahead of the business plan. You will work with Senior Management and Directors to help identify opportunities for growth, innovation possibilities and potential business development opportunities.

The primary role is being responsible for leading and delivering a range of technical projects that span across power system planning, grid connections, innovation projects and regulation. The role requires experience in leading technical teams and projects, and a strong understanding of the technical performance and technical analysis of the Irish power system.

Duties & Responsibilities Include

  • Deliver projects to a high level of technical competency

  • Support the Ireland Country Manager with setting and delivering the strategy for the Irish Business

  • Manage large, complex, and multiple projects, acting as Subject Matter Expert and Project Manager where required

  • Managing resources, skills, client expectations and scope changes

  • Develop and maintain client relationships and manage partnerships with other consultancies and industry bodies

  • Manage and provide input into the preparation of tenders, proposals and submissions.

  • Manage, review and supervise work of junior staff both in the country and in the UK

  • Work alongside Team Managers to identify skills gaps, training needs and help with management of staff and resources

  • Work alongside the Marketing Executive and Directors to identify suitable marketing and conferences opportunities, to attend, exhibit, talk, present papers, sit on panels etc



The Candidate

They are looking to recruit a bright and driven consultant with several years of professional experience, specifically to work on a diverse range of projects within the energy industry. This exciting new role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to really see their ideas be put into practice and see them grow, really allowing you to put your stamp on the company. In particular, the candidate would be able to develop their contacts within utility companies, as well as get involved with delivering world-first innovation work and deliver these projects as part of a specialised team of experts.

Essential

  • 5+ years’ experience in power systems or related field

  • Electronic/Electrical Engineering degree, or equivalent

  • Excellent technical skills and knowledge of power system modelling and analysis techniques

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and adapts a suitable approach when dealing with internal and external parties

  • Commercial awareness and up to date with energy policy and regulation

  • Experience in conceiving and introducing innovative ideas, solutions or new ways of thinking

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritise under pressure of deadlines, while working independently

  • Strong collaboration skills

Desirable

  • Developed capability in carrying out dynamic analysis, harmonic analysis and EMT studies

  • Experience in the use of one or more of the following software packages: DIgSILENT Power Factory, IPSA, ETAP, PSCAD, EMTP-ATP

  • Experience in the use of Python

  • Experience performing Cost Benefit Analysis, Least Worst Regret, and working with financial metrics such as NPV, IRR, payback period etc

  • An understanding and familiarity of key players within the Irish energy industry

  • A keen sense of the future challenges facing the Irish energy sector
