Principal Clinical Psychologist/CBT Therapist

Posted 18 September by NHS Business Services Authority

We have an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced Band 8a Clinical Psychologist or Band 7 CBT Therapist to join an expanding Liaison Psychiatry Team. The post holder will be a core member of the Liaison Team working with the Principal Clinical Psychologist in Wirral University Teaching Hospitals. The post holder will receive supervision from the Liaison Principal Clinical Psychologist and be part of a very supportive group of local CWP Clinical Psychologists. The role will support the Liaison Psychiatry team to provide high quality psychologically informed assessments, formulations and interventions to A&E and ward patients and also on an out-patient basis. The clinical work will be varied and there will be opportunities for innovative working as the post holder will be expected to be a key contributor to the development of the psychological service within the team. The post holder will also be required to assist in the delivery of a number of psychologically informed training programmes for acute hospital staff and liaison team members as well as providing on-going consultation and supervision via MDT working. There will also be opportunities to utilise research skills through service-related research and audit. The post holder will also be offered the opportunity to spend one session in a different adult service to develop their skills with another client group.

This post is part of a developing psychology service that has excellent links with other specialties within the Trust. We actively encourage CPD and the post holder will be supported to access relevant training and to develop their skills in areas relevant to the service. As a service, we take trainees from the North West training courses in clinical psychology and other therapy-related courses, and have academic links with local universities.

We would welcome suitable applications from newly qualified, or soon to be qualified clinical psychologists. If successful, a newly qualified psychologist would be paid at Band 7 and supported through the preceptorship process usually over a period of 18 months before progressing to Band 8a.
