The candidate will likely be a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer looking for career progression or an already established Principal Engineer
The individual will be self-motivated with a proven track record in Civil and Structural detailed design projects and able to help support and grow the engineering design team whilst executing FEED and detailed design projects with minimal supervision.
Good communication, leadership, presentation skills and sensitive management of 3rd parties is essential.
Chartered Engineer or near qualified status preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of academic qualifications. Degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering - preferably chartered MICE
Extensive experience in the Civil and Structural Engineering Design including management and control of several simultaneous projects within the Chemical, Oil & Gas FEED and EPC Design Projects in a similar role
Experience of management and control of estimating, planning and cost monitoring.
Excellent technical communication and coordination skills.
Good understanding and working knowledge of the relevant national and international standards, design codes and legislation applicable to Civil and Structural Design together with a proven track record in engineering design.
Self-motivated, thorough, well organized, methodical and commercially astute.
Full UK driving licence is required as travel within the UK will be required.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the candidate will be responsible for the following:-
Provide definition and design approach for the Civil & Structural engineering work for all Projects
Supervision and direction of technical detail in relation to Civil and Structural Engineering design for all Projects --advising and guiding Engineers, Designers and Draughtspersons as required.
Liaison with Managing Director and Drawing Office Manager with regard to office workload and planning.
Estimate Project man-hours and preparation of tenders.
Control and monitor work progress (budget, schedule) and raising change documentation where necessary
Undertake all work within the estimated man hour budget and within schedule.
Make necessary decisions on recruitment, allocation and training of engineering staff. Manage all resources as required by the projects
Work in an effective and collaborative manner. Liaising with Clients, Licensors, other design disciplines and suppliers on technical and other discipline design matters on a regular basis and in a professional manner
Lead and undertake both Civil & Structural engineering design work with full regard to Safety both in detail design and engineering execution.
Carry out design work in compliance with, UK statutory requirements, UK Codes and Standards and Project Basis of Design.
Be innovative in design work with due regard to minimisation of cost, risk and schedule whilst maintaining technical integrity and display sensitivity to the 3rd parties affected by the project.
Monitoring the checking, approval and review of all Civil and Structural deliverables to ensure that they meet company, project and Client quality requirements.
Work both in the office and on site as the projects demand.
