This exciting post allows you to work in the integrated Minor Illness/Injury Unit and GP Unit in Crieff Community Hospital. The Minor Injury/Illness unit currently provides a service from 0900-1700 hours Mon-Fri and 0900-2100 at weekends and is open all year round (hours are under review). You will be required to assess patient's needs, plan implement and evaluate a programme of evidence-based care within management of minor illness/minor injuries framework and undertake the necessary training and development to attain and maintain levels of competency. You will support the Band 5 Nurse in charge of the GP unit with more complex issues and provide clinical nursing care to patients in the inpatient ward at times of low activity within the MIIU. The ward mainly cares for step down patients from acute hospitals with a focus on the rehabilitation of patients. GP admissions from the community are mainly for treatment of sub acute conditions not requiring diagnostics and rehabilitation and Palliative care.

You should be a 1st Level Registered Nurse with experience at Band 5/6 level and educated to or working towards degree level. You should have evidence of further education/CPD in relevant areas e.g. Minor injury/Minor illness/Nurse Prescribing/Clinical Assessment. As well as working autonomously you should be able to work as part of a team, have effective listening and interpersonal skills. Time management skills are important. It is a requirement of this job that you are able to travel across Tayside to support other Minor Illness/Minor Injury and wards within the Directorate.
