Practice Lead - Hybris - £85,000

A leading global IT organisation which specialises in providing expert IT support across a portfolio of clients is currently recruiting for a Practice Lead to own their Hybris department.

The Hybris team is comprised of software architect and developers who are responsible for the design and development of our code. Our tech stack is a mix of Hybris, Spring/Java, JVM languages, js, Node and Swift, but we are always looking for the right technology for the job.

They have a dynamic and evolving architecture landscape of enterprise systems and microservices, which are continually adapted to scale. The teams work closely with software engineers, product managers, test managers and stakeholders in the wider business to ensure constant innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and lead the Hybris community of practice
  • Define and implement good engineering patterns and practices
  • Identify, develop/ acquire and implement the necessary tools, frameworks and processes to support the team
  • Coach, mentor and inspire members of the community, which will include line management responsibilities
  • Architecture and design governance in collaboration with the architect and lead engineers
  • Define the Hybris technical roadmap in collaboration with the architect, lead engineers and Head of Engineering
  • Foster an agile engineering culture that values quality and good craftsmanship
  • Collaborate with the engineering leads to define cross-platform solutions
  • Collaborate with product managers and internal business stakeholders to define requirements and plans

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Expert knowledge of Java Spring MVC and Hybris development
  • Strong hands-on leader having lead a team of at least 2 engineers using an agile methodology
  • Strong engineering credentials and experience of the full SDLC
  • Knowledge and experience of CI/CD and testing: test pyramid (unit/integration/BDD tests)
  • Some knowledge of front-end web development with HTML, CSS, Javascript and jQuery
  • Broad-minded approach to technology stacks, with a focus on using the right tool for the job, so it's likely that you will have some experience of other languages such as Python, Ruby, Java, .NET, PHP or Go
  • Some experience of database development: SQL and/or NoSQL
  • Knowledge of REST web services and APIs
  • Knowledge and experience of TDD and BDD
  • Desirable to have some knowledge of microservice architecture and development
  • Desirable to have some knowledge of Node.js
  • Desirable to have some knowledge and experience with and interest in native mobile app development in iOS and/or Android

Desirable to have knowledge and experience in continuous integration and DevOps approaches
