An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are looking for a full-time Practice Development Nurse to join our friendly team at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. If you wish to influence and develop nursing leaders for the future, and lead the professional leadership and clinical development of our nurses, come and join us.

The Cardiovascular department offers full range of hospital services for our local community we also provide specialist services for patients from further afield. Compromising of five inpatient wards, five cardiac catheter labs, outpatients and day care beds for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, vascular surgery and patients with cardiac disease.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and committed nurse, to join our team. Our department is challenging and it offers a good work-life balance, and you will enjoy working as part of a highly supportive and friendly team.

As a Practice Development Nurse in our team, you will be involved in all aspects of nurse training including:

  • Management and delivery of induction programmes for new starts and pre-registration students.
  • Reviewing, planning and commissioning of internal and external course/educational programmes
  • Developing and implementing new initiatives in Paediatric Theatres to support an expanding service.
  • Provision of hands on clinical support for new starters and other learners in the department.
  • Coordination and management of (Band 6) Clinical Educator.
  • Collaboration with matron, clinical managers, cardiovascular education team and the multidisciplinary team to review and develop the educational strategy.

Education and staff development plays a vital role in training and development of all staff within the cardiovascular directorate. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing workforce. The successful post holder will have substantial experience at Band 6 or band 7 level caring for patients with cardiovascular disease.

As part of the Cardiovascular Directorate at Guys and St Thomas', you will be part of the exciting development of a Cardiovascular Institute. In partnership with the Kings Health Partners, we are in the process of working towards one team working. As a consequence there are many opportunities to develop, and we are keen to involve our staff both clinically and academically.

Interested candidates should have highly effective interpersonal skills including; the ability to work with a diverse team of professionals, and use their own initiative. You must have excellent organizational skills and be able to meet tight deadlines.
