Advance your Career as a Psychological Therapist in Aberdeen
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Psychological Therapist to work in Primary Care Adult Mental Health in Aberdeen City. This post is fixed term for two years. Part time applicants are welcome.
These posts are primarily aimed at providing a service for adults with common mental health problems (at Tier 2) presenting in Primary Care. The postholder will join 5 Psychological Therapists already in post. The posts are supported by 2 Primary Care Psychology posts and by the Consultant Psychologist at Royal Cornhill Hospital and will be line managed by the Health & Social Care Partnership Management team. Work will primarily be conducted within GP surgeries or other Primary Care health facilities.
The post holders will provide a service within one of the 4 Localities within Aberdeen City, working in conjunction with the existing multidisciplinary Primary Care Mental Health Team. The role will involve assessing and providing psychological therapy for patients with a range of mental health problems including depression and a range of anxiety disorders. These interventions will be in line with best practice as identified by SIGN and NICE guidance. There will also be an expectation that the postholder will develop strong links with Social Care and Third Sector partners.
The postholder will have high level skills in psychological therapy, having obtained, for example, an MSc in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care (or equivalent, see Person Specification for more details). Post qualification experience would be desirable but is not essential, providing their training has included substantial clinical placement practice.
