ATDBio are one of the major players in the UK for oligonucleotide synthesis and currently have fantastic opportunities available at the School of Chemistry in Southampton and the Oxford Science Park. These roles will be the perfect fit for you if you have a PhD in Synthetic Chemistry.

The role: Postgraduate Development Scientist

Job description: To carry out oligonucleotide synthesis and analysis, in addition to other laboratory work.

ATDBio is an oligonucleotide synthesis company specialising in the synthesis of high-quality modified oligonucleotides, with labs in Southampton and Oxford. We supply oligonucleotides for COVID-19 testing and our oligonucleotides are also used all over the world in academic and commercial research in the fields of genetics, genomics, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology and nanotechnology.

ATDBio have full-time positions available in Southampton and Oxford for scientists to carry out oligonucleotide synthesis and analysis, in addition to other laboratory work. This post is permanent with a six-month probation period. There may also be an occasional requirement to work between the Southampton and Oxford labs.

The successful candidate will have…

  • a PhD in synthetic chemistry or closely related discipline, and some experience working in a chemistry laboratory
  • experience in nucleic acid chemistry desirable but not essential
  • experience with HPLC and mass spectrometry; experience working with Waters LCMS systems is highly desirable
  • proven ability to work well both individually and as part of a small team
  • excellent spoken and written English
  • the ability to keep accurate laboratory records and work in a neat and clean environment.
