PMO Manager

A Not-for-Profit membership organisation is looking for a PMO Manager to join them.

The Role:

  • Lead, develop and manage a professional, highly skilled and motivated PMO team
  • Develop and maintain business partnership relationships with internal stakeholders or external suppliers to provide sufficient project management resources
  • Define, maintain, promote and communicate project and programme standards, methods and policies across TLS to ensure good practice in both the management of project demand and assurance of successful delivery
  • Ensure adherence to process and governance to deliver successfully in terms of time, cost and benefits
  • Report on programme performance, reporting deviations and escalating issues for decision / resolution
  • Contribute to and review programme activity to determine timeframes, funding limitations, resource requirements and success criteria for initiatives
  • Mitigate escalated risks and resolve escalated issues to support the team’s contributions to the delivery of projects
  • Build and develop effective relationships with relevant internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, develop agreed plans and deliver to strategic and operational plans
  • Support the adoption of Programme and Project Management methodologies sharing best practice
  • Provide agreed MI against deliverables, resources and budget, including the production of monthly RAG status dashboard assessments for all incepted and not completed projects.
  • Develop and maintain budget forecasts for the annual budget for all programme resources within the overall business planning and forecast cycle
  • Maintain the overall project pipeline prioritisation process and key gate decisions such that all new projects are prioritised by the Executive team.

The Person

  • Proven experience working at a Senior PMO or PMO Manager level
  • Highly developed people management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Extensive project and programme management experience with a track record of leading and delivering solutions
  • Experience of managing a programme management office
  • Ability to adopt an assertive approach and challenge business assumptions, while maintaining a diplomatic, tactful and sensitive manner
  • Ability to plan forward and to handle numerous projects with competing deadlines and priorities
  • Experience of agile working methodology
  • Ability to identify and mitigate issues and risk pro actively
  • Experience of implementing target operating models
  • Experience of project financial management
  • Experience of working with both technical projects and business change projects
