A maintenance plumber required to work at HMP Isle of wight on a full time, temporary to permanent vacancy.

Your new company
The National Offender Management Services are there to ensure people serve the sentences and orders handed out by courts, both in prisons and in the community. Within England and Wales, NOMS is responsible for the running of prison and probation services, are dedicated to the rehabilitation services for prisoners leaving prison, making sure support is available to stop people offending again and contract managing private sector prisons and services such as the Prisoner Escort Service and electronic tagging.

Your new role
The job involves:

  • Maintain mechanical heating/ventilation plant.
  • Repair and maintain showers, baths, w/h basins, toilets.
  • General plumbing repairs - sinks / taps.
  • Clearing blocked toilets, sink wastes and drains.
  • Quarterly shower head cleaning.
  • Monthly water temperature readings.
  • Maintain water feature.
  • Maintain suitable and sufficient spare parts.
  • Clearing out roof gutters.
  • To undertake and assist with other maintenance as required by the Estates Manager.
  • To undertake a planned programme of maintenance as directed by the Estates Manager.



What you'll need to succeed

  • You will be required to carry out a full NOMS DBS clearance which will be fully funded by the prison.
  • The successful applicant will be NVQ qualified or equivalent, time served is also acceptable.
  • Working in social housing/ similar environment would be beneficial.
