Due to continued growth and development an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, skilled Heavy Plant Fitter to join a family run business who can offer long-term security.
The Armstrong group strongly believe in owning vehicles, plant and equipment as it caters for maximum flexibility and demonstrates our long term commitment to our customers, staff and the industry.
Our quarries produce attractive shades of sandstone, with the exception of Shap in Cumbria which is the home of the famous Shap pink granite, all with good reserves to ensure continuity of supply. The Company has extensive sawing capabilities and can produce any form of cut stone requested from bricks to a solid stone ball, nameplates to fireplaces.
The successful applicant will be responsible for repair and maintaining various types of heavy plant and equipment on the company’s 5 Quarries in the North West Region: Bolton, Chorley, Clitheroe and Cumbria.
Essential knowledge of the following equipment is required:
- Loading Shovels
- Dump Trucks
- Other static and mobile plant; belt transfer systems, hydraulic systems etc.
The successful applicant will need to be able to effectively communicate clearly with operatives and managers to fault diagnose, able to update self knowledge by training as required and health & safety aware. They must also be willing to be flexible with regards to working hours and travel. A good amount of suitable working experience is more important than qualifications and recent heavy plant experience would be ideal. A current clean driving licence is also required.
The Company would also consider, for those based further afield, providing overnight accommodation for the right candidate.
