The main purpose of the role is to deal with various planning proposals and applications to a high level.
The main accountabilities of the post are outlined below;
To apply a project managed approach to development proposals.
To give appropriate and timely responses to customer enquiries on a range of planning matters, including giving opinions to customers on the likelihood of permission
To keep Elected Members, MPs, and customers appropriately informed on planning matters and deliver a high level of customer care.
To undertake work in connection with a range of planning appeals including informal hearings commensurate with level of remuneration.
To liaise closely with colleagues including in other departments to secure the delivery of satisfactory services to Members, citizens and developers.
To liaise and work jointly with other Authorities, public bodies and private organisations.
To keep abreast of changes in legislation, policy and procedures, ensuring such changes are taken into account in all matters dealt with.
To write detailed reports on complex issues and reach reasoned conclusions and make recommendations.
To deal with a full range of customers in a range of situations and demonstrate customer care.
To negotiate solutions with customers on a range of planning proposals.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience within a Development Management team, will hold a relevant professional qualification in Planning and will be experienced using IT databases.
