Planning and Strategy Analyst

Overview: To provide the business with data and analysis in support of tactical and strategic decision-making. Collation and preparation of information and reports containing operational, financial, customer and competitor data. To track and report on the aircraft and simulator capacity and trainee flows across the training centres globally.

Core duties will involve, but not be limited to:

Tactical Analysis

  • Co-ordination of operational performance data, working with the training centers to deliver a user friendly, reliable, balanced dashboard of measures

  • To measure and report available aircraft, simulator, and classroom capacity across the training centers globally

  • To analyze and report on improvements to the utilization of the aircraft and simulators

  • To provide data and analysis in support of capacity change plans

  • To track and report customer feedback scores and comments

Strategic Analysis

  • Regular tracking of key competitor performance, including financial and commercial reports

  • To model and forecast the airline pilot training demand

  • To support the development of business plans through scenario modelling

  • Support the development of the growth strategy and any merger and acquisition activity with the development and use of commercial business models and analysis

  • Provision of analytical expertise to the Planning team and the wider department

Essential skills and experience:

  • Highly numerate with a strong analytical approach

  • Professional communication and presentation skills with the confidence to communicate results and recommendations to drive positive actions

  • Proficient in critically evaluating data and drawing conclusions from analysis
  • Proven organizational skills with demonstrable success in managing a variety of activities and consistently delivering analysis within required timescales

  • Ability to use own initiative in raising and solving problems

  • Proven team working across cross-functional teams

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Commercial understanding of the Airline Industry
  • Aptitude to learn data extraction and exploitation technique tools, including Business Objects, SQL, Excel, etc
  • Experience in business performance monitoring and reporting
  • Ability to influence peers, commercial and operational managers

Qualification and educational requirements:

  • Educated to Degree level or with comparable experience with a strong analytical background
