Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have a fantastic opportunity for a Physician Associate to join Trust delivering Outstanding care and to be a part of a high performing Adult/Older Adult Psychiatry team.
The post holder will under the direction of the supervising Consultant Psychiatrist within Adult and Older Adult Psychiatry. They will work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver the highest quality psychiatric care to vulnerable patients at times of greatest need. The post holder will be responsible for providing care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, mental state examination and psychiatric assessment, through to diagnosis, treatment plans and initiating treatment.
The successful candidate will need to have a PG Dip in Physician Associate Studies from a UK training programme, with a minimum of a BA/BSc Degree prior the Physician Associate programme. The post would suit either a newly qualified or experienced Physician Associate and NHFT will offer the postholder a supportive environment with opportunities to develop your clinical skills, personal and leadership capabilities, and your career, with individual senior mentoring. As your competence grows, you will manage a caseload of patients, order and interpret diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies or various other therapies.
Effective communication skills are important in this role where you will support patients, relatives and carers in both sensitive and complex matter. Recognising and being adaptable to their needs and overcoming difference levels of understanding, cultural backgrounds and different preferred ways of communicating is essential. This role will play an essential role in enhancing continuity of care and improving the patient experience through educating and counselling patients, relatives and carers regarding procedures, diagnosis, treatment and management of conditions.
