To attend customer sites as directed by the customer care team / manager / senior engineer to carry out engineering work to customer's equipment. Ensuring any work is carried out safely and when handed back it is safe for our customers to use.

To liaise with the customer care call controllers either electronically or verbally on a daily basis and the operations manager / senior engineer as required, planning your working day accordingly and taking ownership of engineering issues.

Work towards targets set by operations manager and be aware of all customer service level agreements and aim to exceed them at all times.

Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.

Attend training courses as agreed with your operations manager.

Carry out any reasonable task deemed necessary.

To complete all paperwork including customers own required paperwork clearly, according to the company procedures.

Accurately recording times of each visit and parts used with full customer details. Clear down electronically or over the phone (if hand held broken) including all parts used and times with controller after every job

May be required to work out of area during periods of low work volumes and during engineer shortage.

Pass on any new business leads to sales to sales department.

Technical skills

Adhere to company risk assessments and method statements.

Be aware of the Company's procedures, and adhere to them at all times.

To pass on any technical knowledge that may help other engineers.

Use good engineering practice and standards at all times.

Up date engineering knowledge when able.

Always use cost effective but safe measures to repair.

Engineers should be competent in engineering preferably hydraulic and single and three phase electrics.

Engineers should preferably have baler and compactor experience.

To maintain and use company issued equipment and vehicles in a safe manner and according to phs group policies.

To order parts as required from the Poole workshop, take responsibility for the safe keeping of stock. To keep accurate records (using electronic device issued)of where and when the stock is used and be accountable for stock balances.

Ensure accurate van stock usage accountability.

Ensure uniform kept in clean condition and use any PPE issued as required.

Ensure that all service calls are cleared down on the electronic device issued.

Ensure all fully completed time sheets are posted or sent electronically to operations manager weekly.

Ensure all expense sheets are sent to operations manager weekly or every period as required. .

Complete any customer required log on systems accurately and before leaving customer site.

Comply with customer site rules.

HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

To carry out all operations and activities in the prescribed and safe manner.

Use the correct tools and equipment for the operation including any relevant safety equipment or protective clothing.

Report any defects in equipment or protective clothing immediately.

Avoid improvising or taking short cuts,which would entail unauthorised or unnecessary risks.

Maintain a clean and tidy working area.

Report accidents or near miss incidents promptly.

Report all accidents or near misses to the operations manager

Record any accident in customer site accident book

Co-operate with accident/incident investigations in order to prevent re-occurrence.

Develop a personal concern for your own safety, that of your colleagues and customers

Dispose of any waste product or parts as per company procedure and not break any environmental regulations.

Drive any vehicle you are responsible for in accordance with the Highway Code and to take reasonable breaks.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

Ideally from a service engineering/electrical or hydraulic background. With an ability to demonstrate the skill of fault finding. Qualifications desirable 17th edition electrical regulations /City & Guilds electrical and mechanical engineering.

Experienced in the use of electrical and hydraulic test equipment. A sound knowledge of single and three phase electrical equipment and hydraulic circuits is desirable.

A good attitude and understanding of various mechanical, electrical and hydraulic principles.

Ability to work on electrical and hydraulic circuits and to safety test to National standards, if required.

A mature disciplined approach and good personal administrative and customer care skills.
