Personal Tax Manager (US & UK Taxes)

McGinnis Loy Associates is proud to be working with a Specialist Tax Boutique in Central London who are looking for a Personal Tax Manager with both US and UK personal tax experience. Reporting to one of the Tax Directors, the rolewould suit a Qualified Accountant with the additional ATT qualification (or equivalent) from another tax boutique, or large/mid-tier or Regional Accountancy Firm. As an Enrolled Agent for US tax purposes, key duties include:

  • Preparing and signing off both US and UK personal tax returns
  • Managing your own portfolio of US clients as an Enrolled Agent
  • Reviewing key and complex international tax returns in order to provide relevant advisory services
  • Identifying and developing tax planning / advisory opportunities for both US & UK citizens including residency advice, compensation planning, foreign tax credits, pensions, US/UK treaty sourcing and PFIC’s
  • Keeping personal tax clients up to date with progress, helping to create trust and respect within the wider Tax team
  • Reviewing the tax advisory work prepared by more junior members of the team
  • Liaising with US & UK Tax Authorities in relation to complex tax returns and managing risk within the business
  • Ensuring all assignments are completed within agreed budgets
  • Liaising with the wealth management teams & other tax specialists within the firm in relation to potential recommendations
  • Participating in bids/proposals for new personal tax work

To be considered for the role you should have proven experience in both a US & UK Personal Tax role with the ability to deal with a wide range of clients with different advisory tax issues. Experience of supervising/managing staff and reviewing personal tax work is required, and you should maintain an in-depth, up to date knowledge of the US/UK tax treaty system. Educated to degree level, and ideally ATT/CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent), you should also have strong internal team-working and external relationship building skills, be able to help develop new and existing business, work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.

On offer is a salary around the £60/65,000 level depending on experience, with excellent benefits including 25 days holidays, pension & healthcareschemes and flexible benefits.
