Description of Role:

Can you tell a story with data? An opportunity has arisen for a highly numerate, creative person educated to degree level to work in NHS Dumfries and Galloway. The Performance and Intelligence Analyst post requires demonstrable experience of turning data into meaningful intelligence and strong spreadsheet and charting skills. The post will support service redesign, continuous improvement, reducing inequalities and improving population health across NHS Dumfries and Galloway.
The post holder will extract, analyse, interpret, present and explain data and their limitations, determining priorities for action, assist in the wider understanding of the issues and actively disseminate the findings of analyses with a high level of communication skills. The successful candidate will have the capability to lead on some pieces of work independently.

The position is based in Strategic Planning within a well established friendly team of analysts. Working within a smaller health board/local authority has a number of advantages including the opportunity to support a diverse range of services/initiatives and working directly with senior decision makers. There will be opportunities to develop specialist skills and knowledge in a variety of areas such as GIS, rurality issues, measuring deprivation and process improvement methodology.
Whilst the post holder may be involved with supporting the whole range of business intelligence functions, the main responsibilities of the post involve supporting the intelligence requirements for the integration of health and social services. There are strong links with the local authority and partners in the academic, third and independent sectors.
