Peer Mentor & Volunteer Team Leader - Wakefield Inspiring Recovery

Posted 20 March by Turning Point Featured Ended

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance misuse issues. We're always there to offer free and confidential advice, information and support to people in their communities. But our service doesn't happen by itself - it calls for a well-trained and highly motivated team of volunteers and peer mentors to bring it to life. As Peer Mentor & Volunteer Leader, it'll be your job to help us build and develop that team. Our volunteers and peer mentors are key to everything we do, so you'll have a hugely important role to play from the day you join us.

As Peer Mentor & Volunteer Leader, you'll be responsible for recruiting, training and supporting our volunteers and peer mentors. That means you'll be involved in everything from developing appropriate protocols and implementing supervising structures, to designing and delivering training modules and providing on-the-job support and professional guidance. Beyond this, you'll also keep a close eye on volunteer case work and help to develop and deliver our Peer Mentoring Programme too.

An inspirational leader with plenty of experience when it comes to recruiting and managing volunteers, we're looking for someone with great communication skills and the ability to engage and build relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds. Experience of coaching and mentoring others will also be key to this role. Ideally, you'll have some experience in a substance misuse setting, but that isn't essential. What is essential is that you're passionate about supporting the community and know what it takes to work to deadlines and achieve results against specific targets and goals.

The role will cover Wakefield & District and so travel is required to cover our 2 main hubs in Wakefield and Castleford. It is desirable for applicants to have a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.

Running health facilities and services on a not-for-profit basis, we invest every penny back into our care - and our people. So, if you're ambitious, focused on supporting substance misuse and looking for a Peer Mentor & Volunteer Team Leader role with real value, progress your career with us.

We reserve the right to close this advert early if we are able to appoint to the vacancy before the advertised closed date.
