Our Client is looking for a Payroll Officer to join their team on a fixed term contract until September.

About you

  • Ability to meet fixed timelines
  • Understanding of PAYE taxation and other statutory deductions
  • A basic knowledge of word and excel
  • Comfortable using technology to create process efficiencies and learning new systems
  • Has a full knowledge of Payroll processes and can apply this to the situation
  • Able to work within a fast-paced working environment, organise their own time, prioritising workload against deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communicator across all levels within the business; able to tailor their approach depending on the situation
  • Flexible, enthusiastic and positive approach
  • Able to cope under pressure and prioritise demands
  • Ability to influence managers and employees to follow people procedures
  • Open to change resulting from improvements to processes
  • Effective at building relationships with all regular contacts

Job Role

  • Ensure salary payments are correctly processed in accordance with statutory regulations and the Company contractual rules including calculating and processing of starters, leavers, salary changes and all other ad hoc changes
  • Support the Assistant Payroll Manager to ensure that all payroll related tasks are undertaken each pay period/as required
  • Provide accurate and appropriate pay related information to employees or line managers and resolve any payroll queries that might have arisen efficiently and thoroughly
  • Identify and contribute to process improvements/efficiencies as agreed with the Assistant Payroll Manager
  • Inputting information and cleansing information to maintain the HR Payroll System
  • Maintaining electronic employee files ensuring GDPR standards are met
  • Involvement and support with specific projects and specialist areas (e.g. tax year end or company cars)

  • Respond to external enquiries e.g. earning details for mortgages/rental properties or solicitors salary loss of earnings enquires
