Exciting opportunities has arisen within this large national company who are looking to recruit a UK Payroll Manager.
Purpose of role:
This is a critical and senior role in this organisation's payroll department, with responsibility for paying approximately 50% of their employees
To ensure the accurate and timely delivery of the organisation's payrolls
Provide leadership, detailed support and development to a large, busy payroll team processing the UK payrolls
Manage three teams (currently 18 members) responsible for paying over 36,000 employees
Ensure that payrolls are processed accurately and transmitted on time
Help develop and retain talent on the payroll team, offering support and motivation with an emphasis on employee engagement.
Develop relationships with key customers and ensure that service delivery is customer focused
Drive a policy of continuous improvement on all processes and systems
Ensure that the company's obligations on legal requirements such as year end reporting, pension auto enrolment and RTI are met.
Ensure that reporting needs within the company across all areas (e.g. gender reporting, flexitime reports) are met
Carry out problem and error analysis including period end checking and payroll sign offs
Lead on payroll related projects and drive on delivery and timelines.
Liaise with software developers and IT in relation to any issues and enhancements
Learn the company financial structure including dealing with all financial related enquiries
Liaise with pensions agency and other organisations
Demonstrate a hands-on approach to problem solving and team support
Work with company and external auditors including following up on any actions
Support growth in the company
Other duties as may be required such as checking and signing correspondence, providing support on the time and attendance system for the house employees
Experience, Skills & Competencies:
At least 10 or more years of Payroll experience with at least 5 or more years' experience of managing multiple staff
The ideal candidate will have proven capability to lead in a high volume, fast-paced environment and demonstrates potential for rapid career advancement.
Detailed knowledge of PAYE regulations
Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
Ability to identify and fulfil support requirements in a large team
Ability to make decisions and drive through change
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to lead, motivate, develop and interact well with team members
Experience of managing a large team or multiple teams
Organizational and time management skills in managing multiple, diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate to advanced level capability in Excel
Understanding of common payroll-related issues
Experience in payroll compliance practices
A hands-on person who ensures that the company's payroll functions are met with high level of accuracy
Supervises and motivates a large team remaining approachable at all times
Keeps up to date with changing legislation
Develops relationships with relevant stakeholders
