A nice Chartered Accountancy Practice with a great reputation seek an experienced Payroll Manager to head up, lead and drive their payroll offering.

Reporting into three Senior Partners and managing one member of staff this really is a critical role for the practice and one that is reflective in the salary that is on offer.

My client are looking for someone who has a wealth of payroll experience within a Bureau/Chartered Accountancy environment but someone who is also lively and confident that can work well under pressure.

The role is as follows:

  • Reporting into 3 Partners
  • Working with 1 direct report
  • Systems Used: Excel and Iris
  • Responsible for 450 weekly and monthly Client Payrolls ranging from 1 to 210 employees totalling 3,500 employees: This is a full start to finish payroll
  • Responsible for all Bonus, Commissions, AE and Pensions payments
  • Benefits: Responsible for all Benefits negotiations and administration on behalf of clients which include: Pensions, PMI, Dental Care, Company Cars, STL and Gym Memberships
  • Vendor Management
  • Main point of contact for all Payroll, Benefits and Pensions queries
  • Constantly liaising and advising Clients and Partners on all aspects of Payroll and HR related matters: Up to date with all UK legislation
  • Meeting with clients on a weekly basis to understand their requirements and setting up new payrolls accordingly
  • Dealing with all Contractors and Sub-contractors: Monthly CIS Returns and Tax Statements
  • Month End and Year End Reports: Reconciliations and RTI Submissions
  • Taxable Benefit reports and Submissions of P11Ds
  • Dealing with all Queries and Returns from Government and External Agencies
  • Payroll Statutory Record keeping

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Must have a wealth of Payroll experience gained within a firm of Accountants or Payroll bureau
  • Excellent communication skills internal/external
  • Be able to manage one member of staff
  • Be confident, well spoken and presented
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Meet strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of Sage/Iris would be beneficial
  • Strong Excel
