Payroll Administrator

We are currently seeking a payroll Coordinator/Administrator to start a temporary role in central Basingstoke ASAP.

Ensuring data on all employees and pensioners is effectively processed and maintained through the competent use, and understanding of, the SAP system and other similar HR databases.

Understanding and carrying out, payroll processes and procedures relating to the reconciliation of the general ledger and subsequent payments to HMRC, Courts and other third parties. Carrying out the monthly reconciliation of employees cumulative tax and NI records to facilitate accurate tax year end reporting.

Keeping up to date with legislation and 'payroll best practice' which may impact on the department; ensuring that actions and processes are carried out in line with FCA guidelines, HRMC and other statutory bodies.

Proactively seeking to improve the Payroll service provided to the business by sharing acquired knowledge with colleagues and bringing new innovative suggestions to the table.

Taking responsibility for nominated processes and maintaining detailed work instructions to ensure that any policy, procedural or legislative changes are reflected.

Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with operational management and HR colleagues to ensure the HR/Payroll function works cohesively and professionally towards shared goals and objectives.

Supporting colleagues and working as a team to ensure that all transactional processing, compliance activity and reporting is completed in a timely manner.

Role Requirements:
*The ability to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately, and in compliance with the Data Protection Act, HMRC and FCA regulations.
*A good working knowledge of legislation in relation to employment and payroll taxes.
*Excellent computer literacy, including a high user standard of Word and Excel.
*Good time management and organisation skills; the ability to multi task and work accurately under pressure.
*Excellent telephone manner.
*Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and a good standard of Numeracy.
*The ability to work flexibly as part of a team in a busy office environment dealing with conflicting priorities.
*A proactive, positive approach with the ability to use your own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
*A customer focused attitude; ensuring every effort is made to meet and exceed the expectations of our internal and external customers.
*Knowledge of Income Tax, National Insurance, Occupational and Statutory Sick Pay and Maternity Pay and Pension Schemes.
*Payroll experience within a large organisation.
*A confident user of SAP.
