Year 3 Teaching Assistant, Newport

One to one support within key stage 2

Hays Education are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work on a one-to one basis in key stage 2. Our partnership school is a large community primary school that is based in the outskirts of Newport and within easy access of the M4. The role is on a part-time basis (12:15 - 3:30pm) for 5 days per week, has an immediate start date and is confirmed until the end of the academic year.

This community focused school has an inclusive ethos and ensures that all pupils have equal access to all aspects of school. It promotes tolerant attitudes and provides worthwhile opportunities for pupils to show care and consideration for others in the school and the wider community. The staff work as a whole school team are committed to making learning fun, exciting and memorable. Classrooms and learning areas are attractive and well-resourced and pupils have access to a broad range of appropriate learning resources for all subject areas. There is an extensive outdoor area that is highly stimulating for pupils. The garden and Forest School offer valuable opportunities for effective learning.

Your role as a Teaching Assistant will be working on a one-to-one basis with a pupils in the Year 3 class. The pupil has a statement for ADHD and requires support and a clear structure. You will be responsible for helping to focus and stay on task and for ensuring that he is supported in all aspects. You will need to have strong communication skills in order to work closely with the class teacher and to efficiently liaise with the pupils parents.

To apply for this job you MUST have;
- Experience of supporting Key stage 2 pupils in a primary classroom environment
- Excellent behaviour management, organisational and communication skills
- A genuine desire to support pupil development and to enhance teaching and learning
- An adaptable and innovative approach to enhancing learning
- Level 2 (or above) childcare qualification
- EWC registration
