Part Time Support Worker

Posted 29 October by Affinity Trust

Are you looking for a rewarding career, where you can really make a difference?

Introduction

We have part time opportunities for passionate and flexible support staff to join us supporting a young man with learning disabilities to move into his new home near Taunton in Somerset.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the next step in this young man’s journey, but you will need to be an active individual and have a passion for the outdoors, and in particular walking and running as these are two hobbies that are a key part of this persons support.

Although previous experience is desirable, it is not essential.

Being a driver, with access to a car for work purposes, is essential for this role as you will be required to support this young man with accessing the local and wider community as part of his support and transition. Mileage paid at 0.43p per mile.

About Us

At Affinity Trust all of the people we support have a learning disability but many have associated health needs, dementia, physical disabilities, profound and multiple learning disability or mental health needs.

Being a support worker means you are integral to the day to day lives of the people you support, helping them with various activities such as assistance with personal care, household chores, meal preparation, leisure activities, social inclusion and maintaining health and well-being.

Skills & Experience

You will need to be able to work early shifts (7am - 2.30pm), late shifts (2.30pm - 10pm), occasional weekends and bank holidays. In addition, waking nights are part of a flexible rota.

Support work offers you a chance to make a genuine difference to people’s lives and no day will be the same!

All our Support Workers complete shadow shifts before working with the people we support and those that have not previously worked in care will be supported with completing the Care Certificate.
