How would you like to make a real difference to someones life?
We are looking for a positive, compassionate and caring Support Worker to join our Plymouth service on a part time basis (30 hours) where we support 10 people in a Supported living environment with a learning disability.
The people that we support in this service LOVE pets and they have two cats, tropical fish and an outdoor fishpond! Read on for more about this oppor-tuna-ty...
Each person that we support is an individual and they have a range of activities that they enjoy to do with support and encouragement. You might find yourself engaging in some arts and crafts or perhaps you're a culinary wizard? you would do well in our cookery sessions. Other activities might include swimming and going to the cinema!
Supporting with daily living tasks, finances and managing their tenancy will be a large part of your role, but that's not all. Being a Support Worker means that you also get to create some fantastic memories and take part in the fun!
An important thing to be aware of is that personal care is required in this service - it's important that you are comfortable with this.
Have a look at the additional information attached created by one of the people that we support in Plymouth. This will give you an idea of what the people we support want from you.
As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service, as you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings (ideal for you early risers!), evenings and sleep-ins (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). The best thing about flexibility? It's a two-way street. While we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you'll have your own requirements - have you got commitments on a Thursday? Not to worry, we can factor this in, as well as other requests (provided you give us enough notice) into our rotas.
One of the most amazing things about being a Support Worker is that anyone can do it! As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
