Part Time Support Worker- Maternity Cover - Westcliff on Sea

Posted 7 March by Mencap

Would you like to finish work each day knowing you have made a difference?

We are looking to recruit positive, compassionate and caring Support Workers to join our residential services in Westcliffe on Sea on a 12 month temporary basis to cover maternity leave. At this service we currently support 4 females and two gentlemen who have profound learning disabilities. We currently have a part time position available, offering up to 30 hours a week or alternatively, we would be open to splitting the hours into two 15 hour posts.

The individuals in the service need support with their medication, personal care, finances and daily living tasks, such as cooking cleaning. One of the ladies we support is peg fed and others that we support may require feeding assistance.
The people within the service have a busy schedule and love to be out and about but as they are all non-verbal wheelchair users, they will require support when going out in the community. The adults we support enjoy a variety of hobbies that they like to do, such as attending day centres, shopping, swimming and horse riding. The service has two vehicles that can be used to access the activities that those we support enjoy to do- it's great if you can drive but not essential as we have a large support team.

As a support worker, flexibility is key for both yourself and for the service as you will need to be able to work across a range of weekdays and weekends and shift patterns, including some sleep in shifts (Payment for sleep ins is competitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements). We realise that your quality time is important too, so your rota is prepared well in advance.

The role of a Support Worker can be very challenging at times so it is essential to have a positive mind-set with a desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability. You will need to be quick thinking and able to commit to changes.
In return for your hard work we will support you through our award winning training to help you progress in your career with us!

Within the additional information section, we have included a profile for the service you will work in. This will give you a better understanding of the role requirements.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you explaining why you will be a fantastic addition to the team!!
Enhanced DBS is required for each successful candidate. (Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
