This role is in a well established company with several sites across Hertfordshire and about 9 people working out of the Hertford one. This is accessible by train, bus or car, being about midway between the two train stations. There is free parking there and the atmosphere in the office is good.
The role will be filled by someone looking to work 5 days a week for between 4 and 5 hours each day. There is flexibility here but you will need to work Monday to Friday.
Whilst this is not a high level accountancy role, you will need to have some good understanding of accounts and some experience in this field to be successful in your application. Other skills would include good communication skills, being able to build rapport and relationships with customers and colleagues alike. Attention to detail is paramount as is good IT ability which will help you learn the bespoke IT package that is used for accounts and stock control.
The main responsibilities for the role are as follows
- Credit control
Full responsibility for the three Branches
Chasing customers for payments
Progressing to litigation if necessary
Resolving queries where payment is held up
Credit checks prior to opening new customers accounts
Monitoring Existing credit limits
Allocating customer bank payments
Allocating and logging card payments
Releasing Customer invoices
Print invoices for account payable
Emailing & Posting invoices and statements
- Petty cash
- Factors (invoice finance)
Uploading invoices to factoring company
Reconciling factoring company end of month figures.
- Bank reconciliation
- Running Monthly Management accounts for the Directors (not a complex task)
You will have strong accounts receivable experience and sound Excel skills, good knowledge of double entry bookkeeping and be a confident and assertive communicator when chasing cash from customers.
