The role holder will be responsible for managing a large team of Report writers and
Paraplanners, who are based in a number of locations within the SW region. There will
therefore be an element of travelling required in the role. The key purpose of the role
is to manage, motivate and develop a team of Report Writers and Paraplanners to
prepare high quality written advice and provide technical research services to the
Private Client Advisers, in order to assist them in the achievement of business targets
through the delivery of advice and ongoing services to prospective, new and existing
To train, manage, develop and motivate a team of Report Writers and
Paraplanners to ensure the team is delivering an excellent service to the advisers
in order to assist them in achieving their fee income targets, meeting their client
servicing commitments and complying with business quality standards.
To effectively manage the allocation of the Paraplanner resource within each office,
in line with the individual office and business requirements.
Conduct regular one to one meetings and annual appraisals and regularly review
the training and development requirements of the Paraplanners and Report Writers
through clear objectives and individual development plans.
To provide a first class Paraplanner service to Private Client Advisers, when
Working in conjunction with the Senior Managers and alongside managers within
Operations and other Paraplanner Managers to deliver an efficient and robust
Paraplanning service which meets the objectives of the Advisers and the needs of
To develop company standards and promote consistency within the Paraplanner
role across the regional offices.
To contribute to the production of compliant business by overseeing and ensuring
the efficient preparation of high quality written advice and the delivery of technical
research services to the advisers, in line with the Company’s Business Quality
To create and manage a Paraplanner centre of excellence in each of the offices to
ultimately enhance the client experience.
To make a significant contribution to the continuing development of the
Paraplanner role across the business by evaluating and recommending
improvements to the Paraplanning process and operating procedures, and
implementing changes, as necessary.
To proactively enhance industry knowledge, through external and internal sources
and maintain an accurate CPD log.
To actively participate in relevant training, competence and development initiatives.
To drive productivity and quality in line with KPIs and business objectives, whilst
maintaining effective employee engagement, cultivating a professional, motivated
and high performing team.

- Diploma in Financial Planning or level 4 equivalent is essential. Chartered status,
- An effective people manager with the ability to develop, motivate and empower
- Ideally will have proven experience of managing a large team of highly productive

- In depth Paraplanning experience within an IFA with a good knowledge of pension
transfers, investments, SIPPS, post retirement and inheritance tax planning
Skills & Knowledge
- Good IT skills and competent use of various research tools, ideally Financial

- The ability to balance the commercial needs of the business alongside regulatory
- First class communication skills and the ability to develop effective working
relationships at all level
