Paralegal / Legal Executive - International Personal Injury
My client, one of the UK’s leading law firms, have a fantastic opportunity for a Paralegal/Legal Executive to join their Defendant International Personal Injury team in the London office.
As a Legal Executive or Paralegal working within the Defendant team, you will run a varied caseload, subject to supervision. This is a busy and demanding role, where duties are diverse and no two days are the same. You will deal with a range of fast track and multi-track cases, from minor whiplash or credit hire claims to serious injury and fatal accident claims. Some cases involve the application of foreign law. You’ll liaise regularly with opposing parties, courts, medical experts, and foreign law experts, both over the telephone and in writing. My client has strong links and a close relationship with their insurer clients, and you will need to learn to understand their requirements, and to work closely with them. You will need a professional approach at all times.
You’ll be juggling tasks such as preparing pleadings, advising clients, undertaking legal and quantum research, attending Court hearings and conferences with Counsel. To meet your monthly targets you’ll need to be experienced in multi-tasking and keeping to tight deadlines. Whilst planning and prioritising will be the key to your success, you’ll also need to be flexible and quick to respond to requests at short notice. You’ll be experienced in following set guidelines and processes, but with the ability and confidence to use your own judgement where required. This role will provide the candidate with excellent experience in a forward thinking and dynamic team.
Ideally, we are looking for candidates with around three - four years’ experience in Defendant RTA claims, both fast track and multi-track. It will be helpful (not essential) if suitable candidates have experience of international cases i.e. where the accident is in England and Wales but involving drivers based abroad, or the accident itself was abroad.
Candidates who have completed the LPC, but are not necessarily looking for a training contract would be considered, as would candidates with a law degree, ILEX qualifications or post-graduate legal qualification.
If you thrive on being busy and can adapt well to new challenges, then my client will give you all the training and support you’ll need to help you succeed in this highly rewarding role. You must be IT literate and attentive to detail, with proven expertise in client care
In addition to your competitive basic salary my client offer an excellent benefits package including a contributory pension scheme, critical illness cover, health cash plan, death in service, discounted legal services, 25 days holidays (this increases with length of service), discounted online shopping, season ticket loans, childcare vouchers.
Flexible working will be considered.
