Becoming a Paid Volunteer & Caring Companion in the Ivybridge area of Devon is so rewarding! Imagine making a difference to a lonely older adult in your local community, seeing them smile when you arrive at their door.

  • Car Drivers Essential due to the nature of the role.
  • £10.00 per hour weekdays, £11.00 per hour weekends.
  • Double time on bank holidays.
  • Paid mileage & travel time.
  • Part Time Hours available which will include early mornings, lunchtimes, evenings & alternate weekends.
  • Holiday pay & pension scheme.
  • Minimum of 1-hour visits and regular clients you will visit.

Your Typical Day

Your typical day could start with a morning visit to Mel, Mel has early onset Dementia and has lost all concept of time, so her early morning visit is crucial to keep her in a routine. Arriving at her home you would, make Mel aware its you, and then together you would pick her clothes for the day, help her get washed and then you would prepare breakfast together, laughing and joking about whatever it is you are talking about. After breakfast you may take Mel to the shop for a paper, sit and watch This Morning or even bake some buns, she loves to bake. Other days you visit Mel in the evening and help her up the stairs and into bed. Each day is different, but always so important.

*Please note there will be elements of personal care involved in the role.
