About the Team:

The Accounting team cover all P&L and balance sheet for o2 and its subsidiaries. We are responsible for all governance and controls for purchasing and the general ledger as well as completing the monthly accounts and budgeting processes.

The Cost Accounting team sits within the wider accounting function, and is split into two teams (Overheads and Commissions & Marketing) who together manage a combined cost base of £2.2bn.

Your Role:

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain an unrivalled insight into the organisation structure and cost base of the Head Office support functions (Finance & Strategy, General Counsel`s Office, HR and Corporate Affairs). The main remit of the role will be to prepare the monthly overheads reporting and to act as the finance Business Partner for the Head Office functions. This will involve reviewing and consolidating existing activity and to look for rationalisation and efficiencies on an on-going basis.

With real responsibility for the integrity of our accounts as well as associated process and controls, this role offers a fantastic chance to have a real impact on the Telefonica UK business.

Responsibilities:

To own the delivery of the monthly actuals, providing insightful variance commentary to budget/forecast.
Prepare and post the journals relating to overhead costs every month end into the Oracle Financials.
Payroll and non-payroll costs analysis for all of the Head Office functions and associated management reporting for these areas.
Review and challenge the integrity of data and reporting to ensure the integrity of our accounts.
Sole responsibility for compiling the budgets and reforecasts of overheads and related costs in respect of the Head Office functions. This involves Business Partnering Senior Stakeholders who manage individual cost centre budgets within the Head Office functions, as well as presenting to members of the Board on overall positions.
Prepare and develop a thorough understanding of balance sheet reconciliations.
Monitor, review and approve Purchase Orders and other approvals as required.
Track and understand discretionary spend that falls outside operating expenses.

Skills & experience:

Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA or ACCA)
Financial Accounting Rigour
Good systems knowledge ideally Oracle & Microstrategy.
Excellent working knowledge of MS Applications especially Excel (incl. pivot tables), Access & PowerPoint.
Strong analytical review skills.
Ability to prioritise workload and meet challenging deadlines.
Good interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of management

Skills & experience:
