Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Operations Team Leader, to join the team within the Operations Service section of Environment & Place.

Based in Endrick House, Stirling, and under the direction of the Operations Service Manager, we are seeking an individual who will have the responsibility for directing and leading a multi-disciplined number of frontline operational staff across the Operations Service. This post will have direct line management responsibility for approximately 80 road maintenance employees, consisting of skilled and semi-skilled operatives, a site agent, supervisors, and forepersons. Service areas will include; road maintenance, street lighting, drainage, road surfacing, traffic management, bridge works and rapid response teams. The post holder will also be required to lead and manage other teams across the Environment & Place service as directed by the Service Manager and/or Senior Management Team.

In addition, the post holder will ensure the effective provision and delivery of roads and open space related maintenance activities, provide team leadership and work with key partners to ensure the delivery of an effective service provision.


Key responsibilities include ensuring operational team compliance with the requirements of health & safety, training and fleet to promote and to maintain safe working environments, and utilisation of available performance/customer data to drive continuous improvement. Service enhancement in line with customer and localities based expectations, is also a feature of this post.

Educated to degree level or with equivalent relevant experience within a Road or Civil Engineering sector, you will be an excellent communicator with the ability to deliver a business excellence approach to customer/stakeholder management, you will have experience in budget management, and the relevant legislative framework to ensure regulatory compliance.
