This is a full time, permanent position and the ideal candidate will have experience working with/for a local authority and have extensive experience within a similar role.
The purpose of the role is to lead and develop a cost effective and customer-focused operational team engaged in the daily delivery of all waste collection, waste transfer and street cleansing operations, including the cleansing, maintenance and emptying of all recycling bring sites across the postholders' area of geographical responsibility, ensuring that the Service is delivered in accordance with the Council's values, beliefs, priorities, policies, procedures and objectives and with regulatory compliance and assisting the Business Unit Manager Waste & Street Cleansing in service planning.
The main responsibilities for the role:
Lead, manage and develop the work of the operational team engaged in the daily delivery of all waste collection, waste transfer and street cleansing operations, ensuring that systems and procedures are in place to meet statutory regulatory compliance and environmental standards.
Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in relation to refuse and recycling collection and waste transfer, including the development, implementation and review of Cheshire East's municipal waste management strategy, assessing the implications for service delivery, operations, budgets, health and safety and industrial relations.
Review service delivery and manage systems to identify, investigate and implement efficiency improvements within the postholders' area of responsibility, ensuring that agreed corrective actions and operational procedures are put in place.
