My client, and international logistics/Haulage/Freight Forwarding company is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their busy office
This is a combined role and will include managing a small team overseeing their the day to day activities as well as dealing with operational duties required of the role ; business planning activities, freight forwarding duties & client reviews etc
The team is made up of import & export planners, team administrator and other reports ; you will be responsible for effective management of the Ops Team ; supervising their day 2 day work activities from dealing with their workloads, work out put, & any work related issues they may need dealing with; performance reviews, etc
The operational part of the role will entail you liaising with customers with regard to account performance, service reviews and future business development so as to ensure that operationally they are in a position to provide an effective response to meet market demand- also dealing with quotations, pricing loads, hauliers and occasionallt client visits, account management and analysing account figures and performance etc
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning and Development
Develop the operations team with a view towards business growth.
Financial Planning and Reporting
Meet business objectives and budgets.
Identify key areas for improvement based on performance results.
Produce KPI reports with suitable narrative to explain results and solutions for improvement where necessary.
Monthly report on team performance.
Commercial Partners - Logistics
To liaise with customers to meet their expectations with regard to the performance and service, plus future business development to ensure that operationally we are in apposition to provide effective response in line with requirements.
Ensure all commercial agreements are met and exceeded where possible.
Ensure that the International Operations team meet expectations and manage these appropriately where necessary, using the appropriate and most effective communication method.
Review training requirements and contribute to a purposeful training plan for the Operations Team reviewing the benefits to the business of all training delivered.
Ensure all 'Key Performance Indicators’ are understood and reported upon at the required intervals.
Ensure resources are available to support objectives and personal development.
Ensure that administration support meets day to day operational needs i.e. accounting function, transport administration, returns, POD management, etc.
Ensure that all legal requirements of the operation are met without exception.
Skills and Experience
Proven working experience in a similar role within Road logistics/transport/freight forwarding
Team supervisory skills
It would be advantageous if you have a European language - although this is desirable not essential
