As the Operations Assistant you will be a key individual in a highly productive, enthusiastic and energetic team. You will need to be extremely proactive in a reactive environment, and must be fit and free from injury as some work will include heavy lifting throughout the shift. Also, the role requires you to be highly competent at following instructions and able to communicate effectively in all environments.

You should possess some knowledge on 5S and/or lean manufacturing. The roles and responsibilities are very different for both locations and this allows you to know the whole operational side of the business in order to allow for the flexibility between the two locations. You should also have good problem solving skills, have a willingness to improve, be committed to continual learning, and must also possess excellent time keeping skills.

Production duties will include:

  • Carry out filling line duties.
  • Assisting in the set up and close down procedures.
  • Follow standard operating procedures at all times.
  • Monitor gas levels.
  • Book goods in from couriers on SAGE
  • Use of forklift trucks.
  • Maintain raw material stock levels.
  • Label products.
  • Use of labelling machine.
  • Follow instructions from their direct supervisor.
  • Assist in trunking of goods from and to warehouse.
  • Assist in warehouse when required to do so.
  • Carryout general maintenance and housekeeping duties.
  • Carryout maintenance on machinery when required to do so.
  • Comply with safety policies at all times.

Performance Objectives:

  • Fill canisters/Intermediates as per the production schedule.
  • Complete all required materials for orders daily.
  • Increase efficiency at all times.
  • Develop ways and means of increasing productivity.

Warehouse Duties Include:

  • Pick, pack process orders for dispatch.
  • Load and unload vehicles.
  • Use of reach forklift trucks, and maintain accordingly.
  • Maintain 5S assigned area(s).
  • Comply with safety policies at all times.
  • Use of SAGE
  • Maintenance of pumps and other machinery.
  • Trunking of goods to production.
  • Complete KPI's before end of day.
  • Assist in the labelling of certain products.
  • Use of wrapping machines.
  • Booking in and out of goods.
  • Follow instructions given by the warehouse team leader.
  • Increase efficiency's of each process undertaken.
  • Create dangerous goods notes when required.

Performance Objectives:

  • Ensure all orders are dispatched in line with the company policy.
  • Minimise back orders on all orders.
  • Increase efficiency on regular tasks.
  • Develop ways and means of increasing productivity.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Follow the training you have received and only carry out activities for which you have been trained, including the use of any work-related machinery or equipment.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that machinery and equipment is fit for purpose through effective pre-use checks.
  • Report any faults or defects to any work-related machinery or equipment the Operations Manager immediately.
  • Take reasonable care of your own and other people's health and safety.To be considered for the role you will need the following:

  • Tell someone (your employer, supervisor, or health and safety representative) if you think the work or inadequate precautions are putting anyone's health and safety at serious risk.
  • Ensure all near misses, accidents and incidents are reported.

  • Ability to concentrate and maintain compliance while doing repetitive tasks.
  • Able to work as a team and as an individual.
  • Understanding of 5S & lean manufacturing.
  • Must be confident, energetic, enthusiastic & honest.
  • A willingness to assist in other areas of the business.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety & COSHH
  • Must have a flexible and positive attitude
  • Good deportment and personal bearing.
  • Excellent time keeping skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • A good level of fitness.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages and basic knowledge of SAGE Line 50.
  • Full clean Driving Licence (ideally with trailer rights)
