Purpose of the Role
To improve organisational effectiveness by providing a proactive Occupational Health Service.
To develop the capability of the organisation to deal effectively with Occupational Health issues and legislative matters.
Support the development and implementation of the Occupational Health strategy and vision, which ensures optimum health care.
Work in partnership with Management Teams to increase productivity by lowering sickness absence.
Enable people with a health condition or disability to work.
Organising and participation of pre-employment/ re-deployment health assessments and health surveillance programmes for staff identified by risk assessment.
Develop day to day interface with external / internal agencies providing specialist advice to Line Managers on legislative matters including implementation where necessary.
Identify and champion best practice within the Occupational Health Service using benchmarking techniques.
Identify opportunities for technology enhancements, e.g. audiometers, ECG equipment.
Ensuring all departmental equipment is maintained and safe for use, in line with purchasing guidelines.
To carry out telephone case management within CHL guidelines
Act as OH mentor to OH technicians and placement students as required
Carry out group training sessions on a variety of topics i.e. DSE, stress and health &
To ensure that maximum use is made of IT systems, supporting the development of
information systems to enhance the service provided.

To take responsibility for own personal development and update knowledge and skills, with support from Corporate Health, to perform the role at an effective level.
Undertake such training as is deemed necessary to improve personal performance and knowledge.

Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the company’s Health & Safety Policy and relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
