Nursery Practitioner

Nursery situated in Sutton is looking for a dedicated Nursery Practitoner to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational 50 weeks of the year, closed on Bank holidays and Christmas break. They are open Monday - Friday 08:00-18:00 and cater for up to children aged between 3 months - 5 years old

The nursery is situated within a converted house and split over two floors, babies and toddlers on the ground floor and the Pre-School on the first. The setting is split over two floors with the Baby Room and Toddler Room on the ground floor and the Pre-School on the first floor. All rooms are equipped with a high standard of age appropriate resources allowing the staff to create a high level of fun activities to develop the children’s learning. The nursery has large garden with a separate area for the babies, where the children can interact with each other and explore their outdoor environment.

There is also a large Art room where the children can explore creatively. The children are given the opportunity to take part in weekly extracurricular activities such as French and baby Yoga

The Nursery Nurse role will be working with children aged 2 - 3 years old within the Toddler room which caters for up to 24 children. You will ensure that the room is run to a high standard and assist the other staff within the room. You will be responsible for up to 8 key children and ensure all their developmental needs are met in line with the EYFS.The room is separated into 2 half’s which include creative and messy play and role play areas.

Your role will include:

• Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development

• Providing high quality care for the children within the setting

• Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents

• Implementing the EYFS curriculum

• Providing exciting activities for all the children

• Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children

• Assisting and supporting other staff within the room

• Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians

• Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting

• Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden

• Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment

• Attending parent and staff meetings

• Supporting children with additional needs and IEP’s

• Encouraging mark making, messy play and assisting in developing language skills

• Nappy changing and Potty training

All candidates must have:

• An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent

• At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding

• Great written and Verbal communication skills
