Nursery Practitioner

Nursery situated in Finchley are currently looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their Baby Room. The nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year and is closed on Bank Holidays. They are open Monday-Friday, 08:00 -18:30 and cater for up to 64 children aged between 3 months - 5 years old.

The Nursery is situated in a purpose built building which is split into 3 rooms across two floors. The Baby Room caters for children aged 3 months - 18 months and has a separate nappy changing room and milk kitchen. The toddler room caters for children aged 18 months - 3 years and they have access to a varied range of equipment within the room. The Pre-School caters for children aged 3 - 5 years and has its own bathroom and changing areas. All the rooms have access to an outdoor garden and include a planting and digging area sand and water play. The children also participate in extracurricular activities such as Gymnastics and Musical tots

The role will be working with children aged 3 months - 18 months old within the baby room. Which caters for up to 12 children. The room is divided into areas which include holistic baskets, push and pull toys, sand, water and small construction toys.You will have up to 6 key children and be responsible for completing their observations, planning and monitoring their development.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS Curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Attending parent and staff meetings
  • Supporting children with additional needs and IEP
  • Assisting and supporting the children with weaning and feeding
  • Nappy changing
  • Developing the children sensory skills through singing and messy play
  • Completing the children’s progress trackers
  • Ensuring hygiene standards are kept to a high level at all times
  • Developing the children’s fine motor skills through suing push and pull toys and small construction
  • Completing daily risk assessments indoors and out

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years recent experience within the Early Years setting
  • The ability to work in a team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Curriculum and Safeguarding
  • Experience working with younger children
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal
