Nursery Practitioner needed in Golders Green

This nursery situated in Golders Green is looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join their Toddler Room. The nursery is operational for 51 weeks of the year, only closing for Bank Holidays. They are open Monday - Friday 07:30-18:30 and cater for up to 42 children aged between 3 months - 5 years old.

The nursery opened last year in converted house with each age group having their own designated room spread over two floors. All the rooms have age appropriate resources allowing the staff to create a high level of exciting and educational activities to develop the children’s learning. The nursery has a large garden space for the children to explore freely and equipped with age appropriate resources, with a separate area for the Babies to explore freely and securely. The nursery offer extra-curricular activities for the Pre-School children on a weekly basis. There is a Chef on site who prepares home cooked meals according to the children’s dietary requirements.

The position will be working with children aged 2 - 3 years old within the Toddler team. Your responsibilities will include the day to day routine of the room and you will be responsible for 5 Key Children ensuring all their milestones are met. The Toddler Room has a separate nappy changing and sleeping area. The room has separate areas for the children to explore according the areas of learning as well as a role-play area where the children can begin to develop their imaginations from a young age. There is a separate for the children to explore creatively and enhance their senses with Sand, Water and Messy play.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the children within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with all children, parents and staff
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Ensuring all observations, planning and Key Children files are up to date
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Supporting children with additional needs
  • Attending parents evenings and staff meetings
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Effective team work within the Toddler room to ensure the room runs smoothly
  • Developing the children’s sensory exploration through sand, water and messy play activities
  • Using effective teaching to a high standard to develop their early communication skills through singing and reading stories
  • Introducing the children to different celebrations and cultures from around the world
  • Developing the children’s fine and gross motor skills; running, climbing, holding mark making tools
  • Ensuring their hygiene routines are of a high standard
  • Helping the younger children to settle into the Toddler age group through exciting and new activities

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
