Nursery Nurse needed in Docklands

This nursery situated in Docklands is looking for a Nursery Nurse to join their team. The nursery is operational throughout the year only closing for the Bank Holidays. They are open Monday - Friday 08:00 - 18:00. They cater for up to 39 children aged between 3 months - 5 years old.

The setting is within a ground floor building which has been established since 2004. The nursery is all on the ground floor with each age group having its own room; 3 months to 2 years, 2 to 3 years, 3 to five years. All rooms are equipped to a high standard of age appropriate toys where the practitioners are able to develop the children’s learning to a high standard. There is one central garden that is shared by all age groups and is equipped with age appropriate resources for the children to explore independently. The Toddler and Pre-School children have the opportunity to take part in an extra circular activity every week ranging from learning a new language and extending their physical skills.

The position will be working within the Toddler Room with children aged 2 years - 3 years working within a team of 3 members of staff, ensuring that the Toddler Room is run to a high standard. You will be responsible for 4 Key Children and you will need to monitor their progress in line with the EYFS. The Toddler Room is a spacious room which is separated into the seven areas of learning according to the EYFS with all resources on a low level where the children can easily choose their own resources to play with encouraging the children to develop their own interests. The children have their own Messy play area with access to Sand, Water and messy play materials. They are also encouraged to explore creatively with paint and drawing tools creating their own marks.

Your role will include:

  • Ensuring all the children reach their highest potential throughout their development
  • Providing high quality care for the toddlers within the setting
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with the children and parents
  • Implementing the EYFS curriculum at all times
  • Providing exciting activities for all the children
  • Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork for your key children
  • Assisting and supporting other staff within the room
  • Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians
  • Following the nurseries policies and procedures throughout the setting
  • Completing risk assessments within the room and the garden
  • Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment
  • Doing regular nappy changes
  • Providing exciting sensory activities for the children with Sand, Water and Messy play activities
  • Developing the children’s fine and gross motor skills; running, climbing, grasping mark making tools, building towers
  • Developing the children’s communication through singing nursery rhymes and reading books
  • Developing the children’s hygiene routine to a high standard through toilet training
  • Introduce children to different cultures and festivals from around the world
  • Providing a variety of resources to develop their young imaginations

All candidates must have:

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent
  • At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting
  • The ability to work well within a small team
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS
  • Great communication skills
  • The ability to work within a large team
  • Have a passion for working with children under five
