Purpose of post
*To contribute to and maintain a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the nursery.
*To give support to other personnel within the nursery.
*To implement the daily routine in the nursery.
*To be an effective key person to a group of children

*Liaise with parents
Responsible to: Nursery Manager/Person in charge
Duties and responsibilities
*To receive parents and other family members with a warm welcome, to provide information to them and liaise with and support them.
*Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
*To attend out of working hours activities, e.g. Training, monthly staff meetings, parent's evenings, Christmas party, etc
*To be flexible within the working practices of the Nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Nursery, e.g. Preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc
*To work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the ethos of the Nursery is fulfilled.
*Recording accidents and incidents and being responsible for making sure parents are informed and sign their child's form.
*Look upon the Nursery as a "whole". Be constantly aware of the needs of children.
*Ensure child is collected by the named person.
*To respect the confidentiality of information received.
*To develop your role within the team especially with regard to being a key worker.
*To be aware of the high profile of the Nursery and to uphold its standards at all times.
Specific Child care tasks
To be an effective key person to a group of children. This will involve: -
*Developing a secure relationship with each individual child and their family.
*To be a positive role model for children.
*To comfort and reassure, build confidence and self esteem.
*To work with outside agencies, to gather and share relevant information as necessary within the appropriate guidelines and procedures of the nursery.
*To keep an accurate record of achievement and progress/learning journal on your key children, for parents.
*To prepare transfer forms and communicate with other settings as necessary for each child.
*The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development.
*To ensure that meal times are of a pleasant social sharing.
*Washing and changing children as required.
*Providing comfort and warmth to a poorly child.
*To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
*NVQ level 3 in childcare.
*Three years post qualification experience of working in a nursery environment
*Commitment to ensuring effective teaching & learning
*Good communication skills
*Ability to keep up to date records on key children
*Willingness to involve parents in their child's care and education
*Enthusiasm for further professional development
*Warm caring personality with a sense of humour
*Ability to work as part of a team
*First Aid Qualification
*Forest School Qualification
*Personal interests outside of nursery
This role is for 25 hours per week and salary will be £9750.00 per annum = £7.50 per hour plus NEST pension.
