The Lancashire Teaching Agency (LTA) is a partnership between Lancashire County Council and Reed Education. We support local schools, nurseries, children's centres and residential schools in finding suitable staff for ad hoc, longer term and permanent requirements.
We employ qualified Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Nursery Practitioners, Specialist Support Staff, Welfare Assistants, School Site Staff and also Specialist Teachers for ASD/ SEBD/ HI/ VI/ MLD and SLD. Part Time/ Ad Hoc Roles:
~Half days, full days or part time hours available each week
~Some work is called in on the day, so we call our staff between 7am and 9.30am, for local work the same day
~Other work is booked in advance as schools and nurseries plan in advance to cover staff absences
~Roles include general nursery/classroom support. 1:1 support for individual pupils and group work
~All work requires staff to be flexible, hardworking, proactive and enthusiastic!
Full Time Roles:
~Full days can vary from 9am to 3pm/ 7.30am to 4.30pm/ 8.30am to 5.30pm etc. The hours depend on the setting and what their normal hours are
~Full time hours vary from 25 per week, to 37 per week
~Some full time work can be last minute, where schools call us on a Monday morning and need cover full time for 2 full weeks. Sometimes those roles then continue for months at a time
~Other full time work is booked well in advance, where settings are looking for a member of staff for a certain length of time. They may ask to interview staff before appointing them for longer term/ permanent work
~Roles include general classroom TA support, Nursery Practitioners support, 1:1/ small group work for pupils with SEN/ SEBD and other work such as lunch time cover
Nursery schools require staff who are familiar with the observations, assessments, learning journals and daily routines associated with working with under 5s.
Primary and SEN schools require staff who have experience with the National Curriculum, to include Numeracy, Literacy, delivering phonics and guided reading sessions.
To apply to work for LTA as a Nursery Practitioner/ TA, you must have a relevant qualification to at least Level 2. For example:
~Level 2/ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning
~Level 2/ Level 3 in Childcare and Development
~Foundation Degree in Early Years Education
We look to register people who are available for at least 3 full days per week, or 5 mornings/5 afternoons per week. Full time availability is ideal but we can often work around childcare commitments and part time availability, as long as people are able to work the hours that our settings require.
Before being cleared for work in schools, the LTA run certain compliance checks in the interest of safeguarding children, therefore successful candidates will be required to complete a number of checks, including a fully enhanced DBS during the registration process.
