Nursery Assistant

Nursery situated in Streatham is looking for a Nursery Assistant to join their team. The Nursery is operational 51 weeks of the year and closed on bank holidays and cater for up to 38 children aged between 3 months - 5 years old.

The setting is purpose built and based on one level. It has three rooms designated to each age group which are designed around the Children’s interests allowing them to explore and learn through play to reach their highest potential. The children enjoy extra-curricular activities such as Music and Movement classes, cookery lessons and regular visits to the Library. The children have free flow to the outdoor area where they have their own vegetable patch and explore their natural environment.

The position will be working with children aged 3 - 5 years old. You will need to make sure the paperwork and learning journeys for your key children are completed, and ensure they are provided with a range of activities which enables them to develop and progress towards their Early Learning Goals and assist the other staff to ensure the room is run to a high standard. The room is open plan which include a messy, ICT and role play areas. The children have a separate bathroom which encourages their independence

Your role will include:

• Providing high quality care for the children within the Nursery

• Building and maintaining good relationships with children, parents and staff

• Implementing the EYFS Curriculum daily

• Providing exciting activities for all the children

• Completing observations, planning and any additional paperwork

• Discussing the children’s progress with their parents or guardians

• Following the Nurseries policies and procedures throughout the Nursery

• Ensuring the children have a safe and stimulating environment

• Ensuring Hygiene standards are kept to a high level at all times

• Completing daily risk assessment indoors and out

• Attending parent and staff meetings

• Assisting and supporting the children at meal times and self-serving

• Preparing the children for the transition to school

• Developing the Children’s writing and Listening Skills

• Ensuring Hygiene standards are kept to a high level at all times

• Completing reports for the transition to school

All candidates must have:

• An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent

• At least 1 years relevant experience within an Early Years setting

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Safeguarding

• Great written and Verbal communication skills
