About the role

Our mail centres are the hub of our network, receiving sent mail from pillar boxes and businesses for sorting and distribution. As a shift manager you’ll be responsible for all operations across your shift, leading a team of line managers and engineers. You’ll help drive performance at your site by:

  • Pursuing the achievement of quality, financial, automation and employee targets and objectives
  • Undertaking trend analysis to identify improvement opportunities in specific work areas and teams
  • Supporting line managers with mentoring and one-to-one coaching
  • Developing and overseeing team training plans to make sure learning needs are met   

This is a challenging role in a high-tempo environment, balancing the demands of long-term improvement with day-to-day operational control. We’ll look to you to uphold the standards that our customers expect and contribute to the mail centre operating plan.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 22:00-06:00, although flexibility will be required to meet operational needs.

Your start date will be May 2018, with your first 8 weeks spent on a brand new induction programme which will introduce you to your new role and to Royal Mail Group. Please note, the induction programme will be held central location and therefore this may involve some overnight stays.

Terms of Appointment:
