As a business, Hermes is driven by our four values of Do the right thing; Dare to be different, Strive for more and Be Customer Obsessed. We run our business by these values and they are reflected in all of our roles.
Our Night Loader at our new Weybridge "Brooklands" Depot is responsible for the loading and unloading of vehicles and the sortation and scanning of parcels into cages. This role requires the manual handling of both small and large items and sacks, physical as well as mental agility is needed.
About the Role:
You’ll report in to your Shift Supervisor and NightshiftManager, where you will be part of a shift that processes a large volume of parcels. Depending on which shift and what day, it may be anything from 40,000 to a 100,000 parcels in a shift.
But don’t worry you won’t be tackling them alone!
You’ll work as part of a team and use some really smart kit to help you sort all those parcels efficiently. You’ll use Hand-Held Terminals (HHT’s), pump-trucks (once you’re trained) and work on fancy conveyor systems that bring the parcels to you and then you will sort them in to smaller “collars” for certain areas and postcodes. This isn’t an easy job and at times you will have to deal with large volumes but then there will be times when the volumes are lighter and you’ll have chance to gain new skills and experience.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to grow their career with us and take on more of a leadership role.
You must be able to work well in a team and take the lead on your section on your shift.
