Work requirements (example job description at annex a):
Generally, posts will last for a 6-month period with a possibility of a further 6 month extension.
Each member of staff will be allocated private law work, starting with writing safeguarding enquiry reports and progressing to first hearing dispute resolution appointments and section 7s/child impact assessments when satisfactory quality standards have been confirmed. Further to this, consideration may be given to allocation of straightforward public law work.
Staff will work from home remotely
Staff will typically work a 37 hour week;
Staff will undertake any additional tasks as identified by the Head of Operations -;
Staff will be managed by the Senior Learning & Practice Development Manager,
All work will be subject to robust quality assurance checks. If satisfactory standard is not achieved, staff member's contract will be terminated
If a placement up to the prescribed 6 month period is not required 5 working days notice of termination of contract will be given
Quality of Workers:
Agency workers will assess the needs, safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable children involved in Family Proceedings, and provide advice and reports to family courts to achieve the best possible outcomes for these children;
Agency workers must be Social Care Wales registered, or equivalent;
Cafcass Cymru will require CVs of prospective applicants be provided by the Service Provider for Cafcass Cymru to make the final choice of candidate by an assessment and screening process;
All agency workers will be expected to be qualified social workers
All workers are expected to behave in a manner which respects the dignity of colleagues, business partners and contacts, customers and members of the public at all times.
As a worker for Cafcass Cymru you will:
Carry a case load of private and/or public law cases.
Provide professional social work advice and assistance to Courts to achieve a timely conclusion to proceedings and secure the best possible outcome for the child based on their individual needs and best interests.
Provide high quality evidence (orally and in writing) to the Court.
Ensure that the child's welfare is paramount throughout proceedings, including ensuring the child is safeguarded in line with organisational requirements and the All Wales Child Protection Procedures.
Ensure the child's wishes and feelings are appropriately taken into account and reported upon in a timely and high quality fashion throughout the assessment of the child's needs as part of family proceedings.
Advise and assist parents and other relevant parties to proceedings in dispute in the child's best interest in order to minimise the need for court intervention.
Comply with organisational policies, procedures, statutory requirements and court rules in the delivery of services to children and families involved in family proceedings.
Use ICT effectively for case planning and recording and to support service delivery.
