Aston Manor was established in 1983, it is the largest independently owned cider maker in the UK and the second largest manufacturer of cider in the UK. Aston Manor Cider has a production and packaging facility in Birmingham, orchards in Worcestershire and Herefordshire and a further production and packaging facility at Tiverton in Devon.
In spring 2013 the business announced the planting of 1,000 acres of additional new orchards committing to the planting of over 350,000 trees. In doing so we have agreed twenty-five year contracts with our farmer and grower partners.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The purpose of this role will be to create new and exciting cider products ready to be packed and distributed for the business. Liaising closely with the commercial team, the successful candidate will ensure samples are readily available for trial and sale into Aston Manor’s customers. The role will also require that new products are compliant with regulatory standards, so a keen eye for detail will be needed. A practical approach will be beneficial as the business aims to create, and distribute, commercially-attractive products for the off-trade cider market.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Reporting to the Head of Cider Production, this role has been created through the growth of our product portfolio and ambitions to grow further market share. As a New Product Development Graduate you will have the opportunity to learn about the business, our products and will be exposed to the following areas:
- Reproducing samples
- Prioritising products/samples for commercial team
- Ensuring compliance of recipes to suppliers and/or customers
- Quality assurance
Academically, we are looking for CCC (or higher) at A-level and a 2:2 degree (or higher) from a technical-related background such as Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Food Science, Food Nutrition and Biology. You will have strong communication skills both verbal and written. You will also have;

- Commercial awareness
- A great work ethic and professional attitude
- Interest in the industry (advantageous)
- A good eye for detail
- Accuracy in your work
- The ability to follow and/or implement processes
