@mecscomms is recruiting for a permanent Network Operations Centre Engineer, to remotely manage & support customer solutions on behalf of a global ICT managed service provider. Working within the technical operations centre in Leeds, as part of a 24x7 monitoring & support team, the Network Engineer will provide technical support across a range of WAN network, internet, cyber security & cloud solutions. Position: Network Operations Centre Engineer, Technical Support, 1st / 2nd Line

Location: Holbeck, Leeds, West Yorkshire (LS11)

Hours: 12 hour shifts

Shift pattern: 4 days (0700 - 1900), 4 days off, 4 nights (1900 - 0700), 4 days off

Duration: Permanent, full time

Salary: up to £25,000 basic, £3,600 shift + benefits

Key Activity:

*Monitor core infrastructure, applications & customer solutions

*Investigate & troubleshoot technical issues
*Provide problem diagnosis, using appropriate support tools
*Ensure trouble tickets are updated
*Manage escalations where required
*Safeguard customer SLA & KPI's
*Maintaining documentation, including network diagrams
*Implement change management requests

Overview:

The Support Analyst will monitor, troubleshoot & escalate network & system issues utilising a variety of tools & procedures.

The network engineer will be supporting IP networking technologies including Cisco Routers & Switches (to CCNA level), TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, IP Addressing, Subnetting, ADSL, Ethernet, Leased Lines, LES, LAN, WAN, Cyber Security etc. You will also monitor & support Firewalls, DNS, Email, Web & Managed Hosting solutions & UC / VoIP etc.

Providing technical support, the network engineer will deal directly with customers, suppliers & other internal departments, managing incidents, logging support tickets & escalating as required. You will also monitor & react to alerts for the local data centre & the infrastructures within it.

Responsibilities:

*Monitor core infrastructure, applications & customer solutions
*Respond to fault & trouble tickets
*Incident & problem management
*Investigate & troubleshoot technical issues
*Make network changes to customer routers
*Testing circuits on 3rd party systems
*Adjusting Line profiles for DSL circuits
*Diagnosing network issues at a 1st & 2nd line level
*Carrying out 1st line checks with customers
*Identifying faulty hardware & arranging replacements
*Reacting to core alerts & escalating accordingly
*Monitoring the core network & high priority circuits/sites
*Working with 3rd party vendors & suppliers
*Providing good customer service at all times

This role offers the opportunity to work within a Service Provider's network & offers exposure to a number of technologies & products which is ideal for someone wishing to gain network exposure & experience.

Candidate profile:

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of routing & switching, IP protocols, IP addressing, Subnets, DNS & Windows / Linux infrastructure. This can be theoretical knowledge from a CCNA / MCSE / MCP or commercial experience.

You should be familiar with a broad range of IT & Network infrastructures, particularly those associated with the provision of managed IT services, Cloud Computing, Hosting, Systems Integrations, Telecoms, Networking & Unified Communications etc. Your experience, skills & attributes are likely to include some of the following:

*LAN & WAN networking
*Technical support
*Familiarly with any of the following: Cisco, Huawei, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto
*Familiarly with any of the following: DSL, Broadband, Fibre, Ethernet, Fttcm, EFM, EoFTTC
*The willingness to achieve network related certifications such as CCENT, CCNA, CCNP
*Ability to think logically & solve problems
*Quick learner & enjoys new challenges
*Open to change & enjoys a fast-paced environment
*Experience of working towards SLAs, OLAs & KPIs
*Excellent oral & written communication
*Strong commercial & technical acumen
*Eager to receive training & achieve professional accreditation

Candidates must be willing & able to work as part of a 24*7*365 shift rota, including evening & weekend work.
